CPA’s Flow Conditioners – The Best Choice

Canada Pipeline Accessories’ mission is to improve the world of fluid dynamics with proven and reliable measurement solutions. With this in mind, we have developed a range of flow conditioners to serve a wide swath of measurement applications. Each of CPA’s flow conditioners ensure higher performance and accurate measurements for any fluid application, no matter the situation. But which one is the best choice for your process? We sat down to outline each of the CPA flow conditioners to help you make an informed decision.

CPA 50E Flow Conditioner

The 50E is CPA’s main flow conditioner, making it the most tested high performance flow conditioner in the industry. It is supported by more than 20 years of data collection, in-house testing, independent testing, and certification by independent flow laboratories and end users. The CPA 50E is designed to produce a swirl-free, fully developed flow profile, thereby improving reliability and reducing error, while also shortening the meter run. It is a versatile conditioner that is available in multiple installation methods, including ANSI Raised Face (RF), ANSI Ring Type Joint (RTJ), weld-in, and full width options. CPA has it available in stock in 2” through 16” sizes for ANSI Raised Face applications. CPA recommends the 50E for all measurement applications, including orifice, ultrasonic, Coriolis, and turbine (to name a few), and it is compatible for all liquid and gas applications.

CPA 55E Flow Conditioner

An upgraded version of the 50E, the CPA 55E flow conditioner is compatible with all liquid and gas applications. It uses an innovative stepped design that has been optimized with fluid dynamic fundamentals in mind, giving greater capability over other flow conditioners with higher swirl eliminated and lower noise and turbulence generation. It is also worth noting that the 55E has some of the shortest tested and AGA9 compliant runs in the industry for ultrasonic applications. It is stocked in 2” through 12” sizes. It is also available in multiple installation methods, including ANSI Raised Face (RF), ANSI Ring Type Joint (RTJ), weld- in, and full width options.

CPA 65E Flow Conditioner

The CPA 65E flow conditioner is a low pressure drop version of the 55E. Like the 55E, it is designed for higher swirl elimination, and it generates lower noise and turbulence than the 50E. However, it differs from other models in that it has half the pressure drop of the CPA 50E or 55E. It is compatible with all measurement applications, but the CPA 65E is optimized for liquid use and recommended for all liquid turbine and ultrasonic applications. The 65E is one of the lowest pressure drop high performance flow conditioners that is currently available on the market. It is also stocked in 2” through 12” sizes. The 65E flow conditioner is available in multiple installation methods, including ANSI Raised Face (RF), ANSI Ring Type Joint (RTJ), weld-in, and full width options.

TBR Flow Conditioner

The CPA TBR flow conditioner eliminates swirl and provides a fully developed velocity flow profile. It is typically used with production orifice meter applications. However, it is also applicable to other gas volumetric metering applications, such as: Ultrasonic, Venturi, Vortex, Turbine, and Cone. It is not recommended for liquid applications due to the application pressure drop overwhelming the set screw strength. The TBR is available in 2” – 4” sizes and it is designed for budget pinned applications that do not have a flange available for flow conditioner installation. It is designed to be pinned into the pipe using a set screw.

TBRL Flow Conditioner

The CPA TBRL flow conditioner is an upgraded version of the TBR. It also eliminates swirl and provides a fully developed velocity flow profile. However, it is designed with a longer upstream sleeve to increase stability in the pipe and make it easier for installation. The TBRL is also recommended for gas applications only, and is available in 2” to 4” sizes.
